This photo of Mount Ruapehu was taken from National Park Village, which is the midpoint on the train journey from Auckland to Wellington, in January of this year. It is approximately 200 km south of Hamilton. Even in the heat of summer, the mountain has a snow cap.
Mount Ruapehu is well known for its ski fields. In winter months, it is the prime ski destination in the North Island.
Please take the time to visit Scenic Sunday for photos of other participants. Thank you!

Wow! What a beautiful photo! Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful Sunday
Lovely - both the wild flowers and grasses in the foreground, and the snow-capped mountain the background!
Stunning drama of the seasons meeting on common ground! Beautiful photo!
Beautiful shot. I always hear that NZ has such fabulous scenery...well, this shot certainly attests to that! Very well composed with great lighting. Enjoy the day...

That's it! I'm moving to New Zealand!
I wish... (wouldn't take anything at all to talk the hubby into it, but I fear that my mother would have a coronary)
Great shot!
I do love any photos of Ruapehu or Taranaki. They are always so majestic.
Mt Ruapehu is stunning! We stayed in the area for a week 2 years ago. Beautiful area.
Excellent photos as usual !!! Lynn
Stunning. This is my absolute favourite place!
We are so lucky to have such a beautiful mountain. I went skiing last year with the family.
Congrats for making it to scenic sunday. The congrats should perhaps go to Ruapehu, because my photo of it made it to the Skywatch@Friday.
